Founder and head instructor of Bumonjuku is Sensei Kenji Hashimoto. He started karate at the age of 3 and beside is relatively young age is a very experienced instructor. He is the head coach for the Tokuyama University karate team. Many students from other prefectures study at Tokuyama university because of the karate team and karate scholarships. Beside the daily training at the university he teaches at several dojo locations in Tokuyama and Yamaguchi City and also teaches science at high school. From 2008 to 2010 he was sent by the Japanese government to EL Salvador where he lived and developed karate and was the national coach during that time. He holds seminars around the world, in Austria, USA, Sri Lanka and in October 2019 and December 2022 in New Zealand!

Instructor for New Zealand is Jurgen Perlich, he has a strong passion for karate since he had his first lesson at the age of 16. After some intensive training years he had a longer break and started again about 15 years ago. Overall Jurgen spent over 16 years in Shotokan style dojos. He travels every year to Japan for Training and studying more about karate. He is still competing in the veteran category.
Jurgen holds a NZ Level 3 certificate in Sports Training and Development and is a Japan graded black belt.
